Sunday on a Wednesday...catching up

Stickers on the front page of the Sunday paper.
Pirates, which we can't wait to see.

The last of Summer Sunday dinners for another year, although we are extending the idea into autumn, but eventually...less grilling more crockpots when the weather gets colder. We started and ended the season with the much loved beef and pineapple kebabs along with chicken and grilled zucchini and corn and potato salad (which we adore and thank you Karin for fulfilling our repeated requests and being the most gracious provider of potato salad for the season!) Yum.

turn sideways to the sun...

We are on the other side of summer.
School days, which bring a different vibe to this house.
There is a definite begin, end, and middle to the day, each part with their own set of responsibilities.

I've been working hard on the autumn Urban Paisley front. I'm expecting to do more shows this coming season. I've set up a page for Urban Paisley Handmade on Facebook. So, if you have Facebook and want to be a fan, here is the link. Also, there is a place where you, as a fan, can upload photos to the page. I love this feature because I think it would be great to see how people use/decorate with the ornaments that they buy.

the last days...

...of summer vacation.

My favorite moments, the inbetween bits of quiet time with me in the studio.
His creative process is fun to watch.

Wild August...

The newest addition to our big extended family is my little great nephew who just managed to make the scene in the final hours of the 5th of August. Mom and baby are doing well and we can't wait to get down to see them!

Edamame is continuing to be the favorite summer lunch.
Everything outside is getting a bit wild. Bugs and plants alike.

Expectations...

My niece is in the beginning stages of labor. Much excitement abounds in this family about babies. They are much loved. Right now it is about waiting. We've gotten sweet presents and wrapped them and decorated them. I'm so adoring those tiny frog faces Eth made! The procurement and preparations were a good distraction. (for both of us!)
Now they sit prettily, waiting to be delivered.
Just like the baby.
Well, not exactly...but I'm sticking with that metaphor. I kinda like it.
There is a great amount of running to the phone when it rings.
The expectation of what a good baby present is to Ethan: something with just the right amount of squooshie and soft touchiness and just the right colors. Which required several trips around the gift store "choosing", and resulted in the above.
I prefer something bookish or musical. Bonus when it's both.

August

photo credit goes to my favorite person in all of England, Rob. Used with permission. It's the manufacturer stamp of the fire hydrant near my house. I love that he notices these little things with his photographer's eye. We stopped so he could take this picture and I remarked that it was sweet that it said American Darling, he replied that the other ones in town just say Darling. I think it has something to do with the age of the hydrant. But really it's the noticing. Love. Five is my favorite number. A photograph full of favorites.

Happy August. Today is harvest day and Eth and I had the Great Bean Pick '08. We washed and trimmed and packed and froze. Lots of singing lots of fun. We also picked edamame and I boiled them for lunch. Sharing a bowl full of edamame seasoned with sea salt is definitely the top 5 things of summertime. Flakes of salt on our fingertips. We are looking forward to more food harvesting this weekend. The tomatoes are ripening and corn is here.

I'm also excited about August due to this special from television's TCM Summer Under the Stars. I love their website. It makes me want to go inside. Outdoor movies and a carnival. I wish I could!
